King's Auto Sales Car Giveaway: Our Story
Since 2019, King's Auto Sales has helped local individuals and families through a vehicle giveaway rooted in community support. What began with a Christmas initiative has grown into a tradition for our team in Langford, BC, with a simple purpose: helping someone in the Capital Regional District move forward with reliable transportation.
Why We Give Back
A dependable vehicle can make everyday responsibilities easier to manage. Getting to work, attending medical appointments, taking children to school and shopping for essentials can all become more difficult without reliable transportation.
Through our car giveaway, we aim to help a local individual or family facing those challenges. For someone who needs a vehicle, access to dependable transportation can create more independence and make new opportunities easier to reach.
The initiative reflects our connection to the communities we serve across Greater Victoria and the wider CRD, including Langford, Victoria, Colwood, View Royal, Saanich and Sooke.
How the Car Giveaway Began
Our story began in 2019, when Ocean 98.5 invited King's Auto Sales to take part in its Random Acts of Christmas program. The experience showed our team how much a vehicle giveaway could mean to someone in the community and inspired us to continue in the years that followed.
We initially worked with the Cool Aid Society to help connect vehicles with people in need. As the initiative developed, King's Auto Sales continued independently, inviting community members to share the stories of individuals and families who could benefit from reliable transportation.
Although many giveaways have taken place in December, the initiative has also extended beyond the holiday season. Its purpose has remained the same: helping local people overcome transportation challenges.
Our First Vehicle Giveaway!
Our first vehicle giveaway began in 2019, when Ocean 98.5 invited King’s Auto Sales to participate in its Random Acts of Christmas campaign. The experience showed us how meaningful the gift of reliable transportation could be and inspired us to continue giving back to our community through future giveaways.

The second vehicle giveaway continued the tradition of helping a local recipient gain access to reliable transportation.
December 2022: Vehicle Giveaway #3
By the third giveaway, the volume and personal stories behind the nominations made the need for reliable vehicles in the community especially clear.
August 2023: Vehicle Giveaway #4
The fourth giveaway carried the program forward and provided another opportunity to support someone in the Capital Regional District.
December 2024: Vehicle Giveaway #5
This giveaway was particularly special because it was the first time King's Auto Sales gave away a van, making it possible to support a larger family situation.
December 2025: Vehicle Giveaway #6
The sixth vehicle giveaway continued the growing community tradition and helped another local recipient move forward with dependable transportation.
A Community Effort
The giveaway brings together people who want to help their neighbours. Community members share stories, local organizations help connect people and businesses contribute support that can extend beyond the vehicle itself.
Insurance, warranty coverage and maintenance can help with the transition to vehicle ownership, while creative and marketing support helps the initiative reach more people. We are grateful to everyone who contributes their time, resources and care.

Our car giveaway has grown from one seasonal act of giving into an ongoing commitment to our community. The people behind each nomination remind us why we continue: reliable transportation can make a practical difference in someone's daily life.
